How We Met

It all started in Seattle, on a chilly, rainy evening at the Holiday Spiel in 2015. Greg was watching Jen and her team from Denver, glide effortlessly across the ice. Jen was dressed as a snowwoman and completely in her element, focused and graceful, her movements smooth as she released the curling stone.  He watched her and found himself captivated—not by the game, but by her.
 

Jen felt the familiar rhythm of the game—the smooth glide of her delivery, the crisp sound of the stone sliding down the ice, the sharp calls of her teammates. But something else caught her attention. From the corner of her eye, she spotted this cute Grinch watching from the bar. The Grinch waved and Jen smiled. ​

After a weekend of brief encounters and nervous interactions, Greg and a couple curling friends invited Jen to a bonspiel in Banff that February.

 

The First Date

The weekend in Banff is where it all began. After a weekend of competition, laughter, and maybe a little friendly flirting, we went home. Jen to Denver, Greg to Seattle. The next week was full of long phone calls, and a desire to see each other again. By the next weekend, Greg purchased a plane ticket and surprised Jen in Denver. A perfect start to a relationship, and a true Valentine's Day first date.

The Proposal

In 2024, we were back where our love story began, in Banff. What Jen thought would be another fun weekend curling in a place that meant so much to us, would turn out to be a weekend she would never forget. We drove to Lake Louise to enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful mountains. When we stopped on our favorite bridge to take our usual photo, Greg nervously got down on one knee and pulled out the ring to ask for her hand in marriage. She said Yes!

Now, Forever

From that first curling match to this moment, every step of our journey has been filled with love, laughter, and a little bit of sweeping each other off our feet. Now, we can’t wait to celebrate our next big moment—our wedding!
